The curse of a gift company is that we always have to work backwards. In order to get ready for our busiest time of year, Christmas, we tend to do our AW photo shoot in mid-August. This creates some ridiculous scenarios. Our talented stylist, Emma, comes along on the first day to our location house (this time a beautiful house over-looking Tooting Bec Common) with a car full of baubles, holly, gold and silver presents wrapped with lace and ribbons, shiny fabrics and a whole arsenal of styling tricks that are a dream to any crafter. Photographer Dan cheerfully arrives with his kit, contrastingly unsightly black poles and well used rented lights that will cheat a warming Christmassy glow when in fact we’re in a boiling hot sitting room in August!
The shoot house is chaos. The owner was away whilst we were there, which may have been a good thing; she didn’t have to see what a mess we made! It’s best not to pack anything away in case it’s needed in another shot later, so we had loads of products, boxes, bubble wrap, plastic bags and brown paper all over her beautiful dining room table. The contrast of the messy atmosphere to the outcome of the stunning shots we end up with is huge and is a big credit to Emma and Dan and the magic that they can create.
Here are some snaps taken over the course of the three day shoot. You can see more photos and also some video of the house over on our Instagram.
The entrance to the house…
Our model on Day Two was Handpicked’s Founder’s dog, Tinka. The old mantra ‘Never work with children and animals’ jumped to mind.

A collection of the final lifestyle shots from the day will be released in the near future.
