There are so many things that are deemed totally necessary for your new baby and tempting though they are unless you have a limitless pocket in reality there are really only a few things that are totally necessary.
· Sleeping: In the beginning any form of bed will appear to swamp your tiny baby. It is
recommendable to use a moses basket initially as it is nice and snug for them and means that you can move them around with you. Once they have grown out of the moses basket you can choose to either move them to a cot and then a cot bed, or straight into a cot bed.
· Chest of drawers: a handy chest of drawers not only helps to store clothes, but can also be useful for toys and books and wipes, creams, cotton wool so that everything is to hand for nappy changes. It can also double up as a changing table, saving space and money, with all the supplies in drawers underneath.
· Nursing chair: I would say that it is utterly vital to have somewhere comfy to sit and feed your baby, a comfy chair where you are well supported will do wonders for your back – lots of lovely cushions will make it all the nicer!
· Curtains and blinds: black out lined curtains or blinds are simply heaven sent and the best possible option for your little one’s room. Ideally they need to be as snug as possible to the window so that light can’t leak through so made to measure really are the best.
· Accessories: if space is tight then nappy stackers are a brilliant solution, you can easily stack spare nappies in them, hang them from a door or drawer handle and free up space. Cushions on chairs not only provide extra comfort during feeding but also can also add to your nursery theme by using complimentary fabrics. Rugs and play blankets work wonderfully to brighten a room and protect the carpet from dribbles and spillages too. Don’t forget to put some pictures on the walls which not only add interest but help to create stories and daydreams for children.
