Seeing another day
We’re really pleased with our new packaging. Getting products to customers in one piece is obviously incredibly important, but it’s a shame so much packaging ends up polluting the environment. We were keen to be green, so experimented with rolled up newspaper, recycled inflated bags and various nasty non-biodegradables, before Customer Services Manager, Marilu, discovered innovative cornstarch scrunchies. You can bung them straight on the compost heap, but to get them breaking down even more quickly, give them a soak in water first. The compost heap will love it because the scrunchies help create those all important air pockets that prevents things turning into a nasty black mush. Tips from Gardener’s World has other great composting ideas, so give if you give it as a gift nestled in corn starch packaging, you could almost consider it two presents – a book and compost starting kit!
